I am a huge Labyrinth fan so when I saw this cute looking book being published, I immediately pre-ordered it.Plot:The story is divided into three parts where different characters have adventures and meet up with other characters. I think my favorite was Ludo's though they were all cute.Setting:I adore the Labyrinth and the setting looks just like the movie in illustrated form.Characters:I pretty much love all of the characters from Labyrinth and they were pretty true to form in this book. The highlight was seeing the worm featured in two of the stories because he's my favorite. The junk woman is also in one of them which was awesome because I've always had a soft spot for her.Relationships:There really isn't enough story for any new relationships to really make an impact but I did like how major characters (Ludo, Sir Didymus, Hoggle) interacted with some of the classic but lesser focus characters.Writing/Voice:The writing fit the characters and story.Illustrations:The illustrations are stunning. My dad, who has never seen Labyrinth, actually saw the book and said it reminded him of The Dark Crystal, which he has seen. He seemed pretty interested just by looking at the art.Ending:The ending is kinda sad but adorable at the same time. It fit the characters and story well.Overall, loved it. Labyrinth fans will adore it and I could see kids being enchanted as well. Would be a great way to introduce little ones to the world of the Labyrinth!

Unfortunately if you’re looking for a book of ‘tales’ from the Labyrinth as the title suggests, this book isn’t it. This picture book contains three short stories, Sir Didymus’ Grand Day, Wisdom & Idioms, and Stone Cold.Sir Didymus’ Grand Day is just a journal entry from Sir Didymus in which he meets up with other Labyrinth characters through the day. Nothing really happens. Wisdom & Idioms was my favorite of the stories, but it’s still too simple and not much of a “tale”. The ‘wise’ man and his bird-hat are just sitting around cracking jokes about Sir Didymus and Ambrosia chasing a Fiery’s head. Stone Cold is poor Ludo going to all the Labyrinth characters trying to get rid of his cold.As with most Labyrinth books I’ve read, the art is beautiful and whimsical. If for anything you can get the book for the art.The way the stories are told, if you haven’t watched the movie you probably won’t enjoy this book (other than the art). There just isn’t enough information for someone not familiar with The Labyrinth to understand these short stories. It wasn’t at all what I was hoping for, but still has some pretty pictures.

The main reason for this purchase was nostalgia. Like probably almost every person that bought this book, Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies of all time and when I heard of all the books coming out to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, I knew I had to scoop up each one. With that being said, the book itself was simple and cute. I expected more in length but for the price, it's okay. It's a collectors item and something I plan to share with my niece and other little ones. It could have been better but being Labyrinth trumps all.

I bought this book for my best friend for her Christmas, and was SO excited when I ordered it, thinking that it would be a great accompaniament to her favorite movie, but it was definitely not what I expected. The pictures were gorgeous, but I wouldn't buy it for the story content...because there really wasn't a story. A few words per page that would work a lot better with a child than for an adult who wanted an item for nostalgia. I didn't particularly care for it, especially for $14, but I'm sure she'll be thrilled with it. Most likely, it's just going to be a conversation piece on a coffee table.

I bought this book for my sister for her birthday and was SO excited when I ordered it, but it was definitely not what I expected. Yes, the pictures were lush and inviting but I wouldn't buy it for the story content...because there really wasn't a story. I am slightly disappointed that they called this Labyrinth "Tales". It was more like a 20 word short story for children. However, as a novelty item, it was worth the money.

illustrations are lovely however the title is misleading as there are no complete talesand format is geared towards very young children...wish I had known prior to purchaseas I feel I have helped fill someones' pocket who is just taking advantage ofrather than honoring a wonderfully crafted movie. Just saying...this is not somethingI would knowingly support.

Love the labyrinth story. These stories are cute. But the writing is very small and hard to read, and the overall color is a bit dark, could have been more vibrant. Still glad I got it, but probably would not have if I saw it in the library first.

I pre-ordered this little gem and I wasn't disappointed. The artwork is wonderful, the stories are right in line with the silly/dark/emotional sides of The Labyrinth. I'd love to see more!
